2024 Word of Intention

It has been such a wonderful tradition to sit and reflect on the past year and to prepare myself going into the next through the use of Word of Intentions. I was originally introduced to the concept of using a Word of Intention in lieu of a New Year's resolution back in December 2019 and chose the word Focus for 2020. I wanted to focus on the direction I wanted to take as far as being a content creator and figure out what that would look like for me.

I was so proud and astonished with how well I was able to keep my Word of Intention in the back of my mind like a mantra all year round, that I continued it for the next year. I chose the word Progress for 2021. My focus was honed in but I needed to do the work of progressing with my blog after struggling with consistency and content ideas for so long. For 2021, I chose the word Growth. Now that my path with blogging had more clarity and I was better managing my time, I wanted to focus on growing my audience and my content, and work on this career path that I had chosen for myself. Despite the challenges of 2020 and 2021, I saw that growth and managed to nail down multiple sponsored posts and worked with some really wonderful brands to help build my portfolio! 2022 saw the birth of our second son at the end of November, and I knew that I was in for a rough and wild ride in 2023 with learning to find my footing as a mother of 2. So, in 2023, I chose the word Resilience. With the rise of short-form video and the struggle to balance work, content creation, motherhood, marriage and mental health, I like to think I weathered the storms the best I could and feel like I'm finally seeing the sun break through the clouds.

Which is why I have chosen Grace as my 2024 Word of Intention. Sometimes, the hardest thing we can do is to give ourselves grace and forgiveness for the things we fall short in accomplishing, to accept ourselves and our shortcomings. I really struggled with that this year in comparison to years' past, and I want to do better in hopes of being a good example of that to my boys. My hope is that the practice of giving myself grace, I will have less hesitancy with doing the things I want and need to do despite not have 100% of the tools I need to accomplish them.

Let me know what your 2024 Word of Intention is to help guide you throughout the new year! I love reading about the different paths we are hoping to embark on. May your new year be filled with positivity, safety, and great memories. Cheers to 2024!
