A Staple Favorite
It's surprising to me just how much I love pairing this red flannel shirt with these ripped black jeans so much, considering how I really don't care for the color red outside of lipstick. It's just so comfy for me to wear that I just gravitate towards them easily and natural.
They work so nicely with gray shirts, too. Don't believe me? Check out this post from November 2019 where I wear almost this exact same outfit. #OutfitRepeater and proud of it!
My goal this year is to find a similar plaid shirt but in blue and at a thrift shop. Actually, my real goal is to make it into thrift shops at all this year. I love finding magical unicorn fines at thrift shops because I feel like that makes them so much more special.
And while I have been buying some new things to help get my new wardrobe squared away, I really want to make sure that my wardrobe going forward is at least 50% thrifted. It's really important for me in 2021 to be making as many sustainability decisions as possible.
Along with that sentiment, I'm only replacing items that fully do not resonate with me in the sense of style that I want going forward. All of those items will be either donated or sold online to help make sure more clothing doesn't end up in landfills. A high majority of the clothing that I have in my closet right now are five plus years old which I'm very proud of. There was a very embarrassing length of time where I was rotating out the things my closet every three to six months with fast fashion. I'm very proud of the progress that I've made over the years to where I'm narrowing down a more sustainable wardrobe.
In the meantime, I'm just enjoy wearing this outfit into the ground once a week every week for the few minutes a week I happen to have to run out to drop off a package or pick up milk. Sometimes when you find that staple favorite you just got to lean in and go with it.
