Our Halloween-Themed Baby Shower
The past few months of our lives have been an absolute whirlwind, and being able to celebrate the coming of our winter baby with a Halloween-themed baby shower has been one of the best moments so far! We enjoyed more like a baby sprinkle than a shower since we have nearly everything we need to welcome Baby #2 with our closest friends and family. And though not everyone could attend our event, we were so lucky to spend those hours surrounded by such a lively and fun group of people!
I can't talk about our shower without first thanking some amazing people who helped make my vision come to life. Our moms, Mike's sister, Melissa, and her partner Mo really stepped up to help create this beautiful vision. With customized recipes to endless shopping trips for the small little details, I'm so grateful to have these amazing women on my side! Bella Festa came through at the last minute with helping us make sure we had all the rental equipment we needed for our guests when another reservation fell through. They were incredibly professional and our entire party was extremely impressed with their gear. To our friends Josh & Chelsea, who brought a table the day-of when we realized we were short one. And last, to Snack'n Waffles who provided an amazing product for a key piece of our menu, who I'll be gushing about in 2 future posts!
For this event, I wanted a Halloween-themed brunch with spooky elements. Against the fence, I had photos of me, Mike and Miles as babies that were aged and weathered in Photoshop to reminisce creepy vintage photos in haunted houses. I took old fabric that I got months ago from my Buy Nothing group and dyed it with gray fabric dye to make it look like an old window using equipment from my photography days.
The table was dressed with white linen, gray-dyed cheesecloth table runners and Spanish moss. We used wooden baskets and bowls to hold our pastries, lumpia and charcuterie items. Each table had a 3-tiered food tray that my mom and I made for my bridal shower years ago. The tableware featured various plate chargers in white and silver with black dinner plates, orange dessert plates, clear cups and copper plasticware wrapped in gray napkins.
We were so lucky to have received so many secondhand items for free or close to. From baskets and serving platters, to vases and Halloween decor. We had a few vases and clear bottles filled with dried eucalyptus, wheat, baby's breath, and greenery that I had purchased at an estate sale. I'm so excited to share all the details, recipes and DIYs that were made for this special event!
We're forever grateful to all those who contributed to our event, from baby gear to presents to time. Bringing Baby #2 into this world has not been an easy task, and we're very grateful to have the community around us that we have. Our only regret is that we lived so hard into the moment that we completely forgot to take pictures as a family and with our family and guests! Happy that Melissa took so many photos of us opening gifts as a family (plus Miles' bestie). Still can't believe we forgot that, but I suppose that will be what my maternity shoot will have to make up for!
