My Honest Kiwi Co Subscription Review
For Christmas, my parents gifted Miles with a 6-month subscription to Kiwi Co, an educational monthly subscription box that combines science with arts & crafts. There are 9 crate levels based on age groups that are available for $24.95 a month with free shipping, with cost breaks on multi-month purchases. My mom signed him up for the Koala Crate which is geared toward ages 2-4. In the crates, you get a little magazine for the kids that includes a story and games/activities the kids can do, an instructional booklet for the parents to use as a guide to the projects, and 3 projects for the kids to assemble. I thought I'd share my honest Kiwi Co subscription review for anyone who's been interested and on the fence, or anyone looking for a new monthly box to get into!
Our first month's crate was Rainbow! Miles absolutely adored this theme and was so proud of how he was able to identify all of the different colors and shapes. The activities can be spaced out over the course of the month to really give the kids something to look forward to in-between crates. In this month's Koala Crate, the activities were a rainbow collage, a tissue dyed tote bag, and a cloud & rainbow pillow. All of the activities do require an adult assistance, but Miles was able to handle the majority of the work all by himself. I would say that each activity probably lasted about 15 to 30 minutes. There's also more activities and DIY projects available on the website for parents to do with their kids or, if you're getting the crates geared towards teens and adults, more for you to do on your own.
One of the things I worried about with this crate was that the cost wouldn't feel justified in the products we would receive. As a fan of monthly subscription boxes, there have been times where I felt I was paying more for junk than for things I would actually want and/or use. With Kiwi Co, I truly feel like my parents are getting their money's worth with the box since its all learning DIY projects that could easily rack up a larger tab than the box would cost us. There's also the added element that there's actual learning involved with each of these crates.
I would love to eventually get the Maker or Eureka crate for myself and Mike to have as a fun monthly activity. It's hard to tell, but I believe the number of activities drop to 1 or 2 per month as the age groups get older, but the amount of supplies and difficulty of the project does increase to make up that difference. I would love to hear in the comments from anyone who has the higher age group crates to see what they're really like!
This month's crate is all about Music and we've already dived in and started having fun. I'll be posting peaks at the crates over on my Instagram Stories, so be sure to check those out when you have a chance! If you're interested in signing up for a Kiwi Co crate subscription, be sure to use my referral link to get $10 off your first box! These really make for a great gift for others. There's also a store to buy additional supplies and activities! Their categories for the crates are food, tech, and crafts, so there's definitely something for everyone's interests. Let me know in the comments below what crate you'd love to grab for you or your hands-on learners!
