Celebrating Independence Day
We had such a blast yesterday celebrating our first Independence Day in our new home! Miles got this super cute "Future Grill Master" tee that I knew would be perfect for partying in! And of course I had to don my MACUSA shirt, because American Wizards and Witches celebrate the 4th of July, too.
We had a busy morning painting Miles' bedroom and closet doors, and grabbing last minute things for that evening. All of our doors (except for 3 now) still have the original paint and hardware from when we first bought the house. We're slowly working through them, one room at a time.
Mike BBQ a rack of ribs we got at Costco with our special BBQ sauce (recipe coming soon) and we enjoyed them for dinner with a side of red potato dill salad from Raley's and some King's Hawaiian Rolls. Normally, we make the potato salad ourselves but I just wanted one less thing on our list that day.
We tried our best to get Miles to stay up as late as possible to see the Lodi Lake fireworks, but we sadly didn't make it. Still, we got to enjoy a ton of sparklers, a few Tequilla Sunsets, a few blooming flowers and 1 Purple Rain fireworks. Miles was not having it with those blooming flower fireworks! We even got to meet a few of our neighbors!
All in all, I'd say that Miles' 2nd July 4th celebration was great. A nice, calm evening at home, just the 3 of us, was exactly what we all needed.
How did you celebrate July 4th? Let me know in the comments below!
