Storybook Cosmetics Wizard Wands Makeup Brushes Review

I'm not going to lie, I had such a strong concern that what I was spending so much money on was going to turn out to be crappy novelty makeup brushes when I ordered these Storybook Cosmetics Wizard Wand makeup brushes. I'm so glad that I turned out to be wrong.

These brushes actually are amazing and were 100% worth every dime and every day I had to wait for them. Each brush was uniquely created by the ladies behind Storybook Cosmetics, fully inspired by the stories they grew up loving and still love to this day. Am I said I wasn't able to get the original Harry Potter ones they came out with? A little. Honestly, though, I'm really glad I was able to be a part of their first run of original design pieces. These are super unique and very much them. These are imitations of something else. That's pretty special in my book.

But what's wrong with? I know what you're thinking. There has to be SOME kind of downfall to them. Honestly? There were only two, and they really didn't end up being a big deal at all. I had one brush that had one "hair" strand that was longer than the others. It was totally a manufacturer thing and was the ONLY thing out of place with the brushes. I cut it and moved on with my life and I've had success with it since.

One thing that did really concern me before actually using them was the weight of the brushes. These babies are not just coated in shiny paint, they feel like they are straight-up metal handles. You could hurt a person with these things! I thought it would pose a problem using them, but I didn't really notice the weight. I think, if anything, it helped me have better control of the wand because my hand was more aware of it being there.

My favorite brush of the group is totally the blending brush. It's the one that reminds me the most of Harry Potter. The vines along the handle are very reminiscent of Hermione Granger's wand, and the 2 diamond-like shapes remind be of the Elder wand's shape and the Sorcerer's Stone.

Overall, I'm really please with how well these brushes work. I wish I had taken a few photos of my makeup the last few days. I bought the e.l.f. Everyday Smoky Eyeshadow Palette just to be able to use with these brushes. If you want a really good palette to use for a low cost, I recommend this one. You can get it for $10 at Target and its great for people who like to keep their makeup low-key during the day and bump up the pigment at night like I do. Storybook Cosmetics has their own palette coming out soon that I can't wait to get my hands on!

The next pre-sale run is happening in mid- to late-February, so if you want to get your hands on these pretties be ready! For $55 you can get your hands on these wonderful makeup brushes, too! They were a few weeks ahead of schedule with my shipment so there's a chance you'll have the same luck. I purchased mine on January 1st right at around 8a when they launched and the last set didn't sell until around 4p/5p. You won't have NYE hangovers working in your favor like I did. Make sure you watch their Instagram account (@storybookcosmetics) to keep up-to-date on the next pre-sale!

I want these SO bad! They are gorgeous, but I just got a new set of Morphe brushes for Christmas and don't NEED anymore. So instead I'll live vicariously through you. Demanding a Hufflepuff Makeup Tutorial with these babies 😉
