Reaction: Nintendo Switch

Nintendo Switch

Millions watched in awe last night as Nintendo revealed (finally) the Switch, their latest console to be released on March 3, 2017 for $299. If you follow me on Instagram, you'll know that my Stories was filled with excitement as I watched the Rooster Teeth live coverage of the event.

One of the features I like most about the Switch is that I can go from playing in a room on a TV to playing on a mobile device essentially anywhere I want and never leaving the console I'm playing on. For someone like me who can't sit still for long periods of time and is constantly doing stuff in multiple rooms at home, I love this! The only downfall to this is the lifespan of a charge; depending on the type of game play or activity you're doing on the Switch, you may only get 3-6 hours with a full charge. Still not sure if I'm totally ok with this news yet or not.

I also like how, right out the gate, you will have a choice between the all gray Joy-Cons or the neon blue and red Joy-Cons, otherwise known as the detachable controllers (featured in gray in the photo above). Those little guys pop out and you can go from a two-handed controller, to two one-handed controllers for single person use, to two one-handed controllers that two players can use. Additionally, when you play someone Switch-on-Switch, you can both use your full set of controllers like they show here for the ARMS game demo.

AND CAN WE TALK ABOUT SUPER MARIO ODYSSEY FOR A SECOND HERE?! Everyone's initial reaction seemed to be the same: "Is this Super Mario GTA? Because I'll take it. Give me it." This is the game I'm MOST excited for. Mario has a hat that's alive and he's jumping from one world to another getting into rad adventures trying to save his beloved princess. The graphics and gameplay look SO good. I haven't been this excited for a Mario game in SO LONG. I can't wait to bring this baby home!

What did you think about the Nintendo Switch? Will you be pre-ordering your console? Let me know! I can't wait to place my order! *dances*

Honestly, I didn't even know about this thing's existence. Hehe. It seems cool and all, but I dunno. I've kind of stopped keeping up with the latest consoles and settled more into desktop gaming and emulation. I'm an old, though. So, you'll have to excuse me and my...you know...oldness. Haha. <3

Honestly, I'm just so stoked about the Mario game. It's just SO hard to keep up with the console wars because they come out so often and they seem the same. What gets me are the games that come out for them and then I found out they belong to only ONE platform and it really just ruins my life, lol! One day they won't get me. Hopefully. Probably not.
