One of my new favorite traditions with my mom is to visit The Great Dickens Fair at the Cow Palace Exhibition Halls in Daly City, CA. The fair runs from November 19 through December 18 this year, and tickets cost $30 for each adult ($14 for kids). For our 2nd annual trip, we brought my aunt and uncle for their last out of town trip before they head back to the Philippines this Friday.

The Dickens Fair takes the guests back to Victorian London (with the occasional modern touch here and there) and celebrates the author, Charles Dickens, in all it's activities, shops and food. You can enjoy beautiful performance from street singers and carolers, sit in a theater performance, have a spot of tea, or get drunk off of Absinthe! This year, we enjoyed the gyros from Acropolis Greek Food and deep fried oysters from HMS Fish & Chips. One of these years, we'll get a reservation in at the Cuthbert's Tea Shoppe! They're reservations only for tea time and tea snacks, and they're almost always booked up. If you plan on going, get your reservations in fast!

My mom had SO much fun "getting arrested", and the gentleman who "arrested" her was so nice to play along! That's one of the great things about this fair: everyone who dresses up gets into and stays in character! People were so lovely to my aunt and uncle as they stopped people for pictures.

If you're into the Victorian days, Charles Dickens, British culture, Ren Faires, or just generally fun and unique events, I highly recommend checking out The Great Dickens Fair. It's a very unique experience that only comes for a month out of the year. There's still a couple of weeks left to get out there if you're in the area. What are you waiting for?!

One of these days I'll remember to get in front of the camera instead of staying behind it! Haha!
